City of Seattle Airbnb Compliance

Is your Airbnb® in compliance with Seattle’s new regulations?

by | January 3, 2019

Effective January 1, 2019, short-term rental operators, platforms (Airbnb®, VBRO®), and some bed and breakfasts, in the City of Seattle must have a short-term regulatory license.  A short-term rental is one where a home or part of a home is rented, for a fee, for fewer than 30 consecutive nights.  Such rentals are also subject to new requirements in Seattle’s Land Use Code.  The newly required license is in addition to a Seattle business license tax certificate and costs $75 per unit.  It can be obtained from the Department of Finance and Administrative Services.  If you have questions regarding whether your rental must comply with these new requirements, contact us for assistance.
