Washington Department of Revenue Launches New Secure Portal

by | March 19, 2018

As of March 19, the Washington Department of Revenue is changing their e-filing system, which will affect how taxpayers file their tax returns. The new portal will allow business owners to access both tax and licensing accounts in one location.

Accounts will now require a Secure Access Washington (SAW) login, which many businesses already have for other state licenses or registrations, such as Labor and Industries, Department of Licensing, and Employment Security Department.

What does this mean for my business?

  • Create a SAW account if your business does not have one already.
  • Transfer all prior account information from e-file to the new secure portal.

What does this mean if I am a tax professional filing on behalf of a business?

  • Reestablish a default payment method in My DOR.

Where can I learn more?

The DOR is offering webinars which will outline how to transfer tax filing history from the previous system, filing a combined excise tax return, setting up a default payment method, and sending and receiving secure messages.
